Fish Tale

GOOD MORNING SECTOR 12!!!

I had SUCH a fun day yesterday! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I know I am!!! Soo...yesterday afternoon after work I headed out to my parental units dwelling and the father figure said "tonight we go fishing". Now..I am NOT a fan of fishing, but I AM a fan of lakes, boats, and fun, so I said "LETS GO!"

My parents live just about a mile off of Lake Michigan and so about 6:30 we head out to the lake.

My dad drives the boat out for about 25 mins (I don't know how far that is...I am assuming about 20miles) and then slows the boat down.

He starts setting up the lines for like a fishing charter...NO BAIT, NO WORMS, NO CASTING to be done...just trolling the lines out. My dad gets them all set and we sit down and go about 1.6 miles an hour in 70foot water. I am LOVING the rocking of the boat, the calming of the scenery, the quiet of just enjoying time with mother and father parental units. (NO KIDS!!! YEAH!!!)

All of a sudden one of the poles like "pings" and my mom jumps up and runs to the line. My dad is yelling at her to do this and do that an all of a sudden the line goes slack. My dad says "that's ok..next time we let Tammy try"....I said "yeah, right. If mom can't do it, I sure can't. She does this almost DAILY. I DON'T FISH". Dad says "Your on the boat, your gonna fish". OK. FINE.

So we keep trolling and all of a sudden one of the lines starts to scream. Like for real. Like someone was murdering it. My dad gets all excited and says "YOUR UP". I am like...NOT. Dad grabs the pole and starts pulling, and reeling, and pulling, and reeling...and I watch for a few minutes. My dad is getting tired and says "Grab this and do EXACTLY what I tell you to do"....So I do.

I pull, reel, pull, reel. After a couple mins my dad gest REALLY excited...and starts yelling for my mom. My mom and dad are standing over me, watching...and I pull this fish to the side of the boat...My dad grabs the net, gets the fish into the boat and starts getting all excited. He kisses me and tells me I did AMAZING. I have NO IDEA what the hell I just did.. but I am like...OK....So dad gets the hook out and holds out this fish and he is sweating. He tosses the fish into the cooler and tells me I just caught one of the biggest fish that his boat has seen.

WOW. For real? We stayed out on the lake for another hour or so and then come in. I am SO stoked. My dad said the fish was "about 18 pounds". We get home....22 pounds. I have a couple pics to prove this fish DOES exhist. I am SO stoked :) I guess I have to go fishing some more. I had FUN and I didn't have to touch the fish or worms...A great day was had by ALL :)

Holy cow (fish?)! Well done. I haven't fishes in years and must confess that I miss it terribly. A 22 pound catch is really something, and you should be proud. Sounds like a perfect day to me. Love the pics.

spoke to z about going out in a couple of weeks to see if she can get a bigger one.if we do it should be fun.

Had a lot of fun... I can't wait to go out again.... Hopefully next time Tommy will join us. :)

I always thought fishing sucked cuz of the worms, but doing nothing while dad sets up the lines and then just reeling them in was GREAT FUN!!!! Tommy let me know about next weekend.. :) (Not this weekend but next)
