I\'m a Geek, & I\'m Annoying as %@*$!!!

What's a common geek trait that really gets under your skin?

For me, one of the first that comes to mind are the people who say crap like "Well met" in real life. My instant gut reaction whenever I come across this person is "@#$% no, I'm never gonna be that guy." If it's a guy, he looks at you like he thinks he's really Spock & if it's a girl she smiles too much & looks at you like your surrounded by invisible fairies only she can see.

Dude...

Back before I met my wife, I met this girl online. We talked for awhile and decided to go out one night. I pick her up and we're talking and I made an offhand joke and she looks at me AND SAYS, "LOL" she pronounced it "Loll" Seriously. A couple minutes later I said something else and she was like "Hehehe" Needless to say, that date ended early.

i am just happy i met my geeky wife outside the internet lol!! and she fell into her geekiness a little later when she discoverd she loves star wars

I believe there are a few different levels to geekdom. The majority of us on this board seem to follow int othe upper eichelon of geeks. We may enjoy the trappings of geekdom but are aware that there is a larger world around us. We have families, jobs, political views, can talk about other things that toys/comics/and what level our hot lesbian half elf D and D character is on. For the most part we recognize that toys and comis and all things geekdom are merely PART of our lives and not the sum total.

Now there is a 2nd part to geekdom that really gets under my skin. This are the basement dwelling, pasty skinned, slimey geeks who will spend counteless hours arguing what color Captain Kirk's undershirt was in episode 407G2 of Star Trek, why Catwoman would be a hotter date that PRincess Leia and what superhero movie least met their expectations. These fellows are the kind of geek that give all geekdom a bad name. These are the guys that stink up the convention hall or comic shop because they do not know what deodorant is for since it does not have a dragon on the side of the can. These are the pour saps who will only get a girl when the rest of the make species has died off and even then, she will need to be blind, deaf and be unable to smell, plus she must be familiar with all 43 actors who played Dr. Who and be able to name each one's favor cheese. These are the wisenheimers who are oblivious to the fact that some folks do enjoy sports and would much rather eat at a nice restaruant that take out a bag of burgers from Burger Meister. These are the kind of slimeballs who will moan and groan and bitch and whine because they can't find all 38 variants of Padima Amidala and that they hate going to Toys R US because (GASP!) children are there.

Only part of the 2nd paragraph that reminds me of me is the children at TRU. Thank goddess I have other things that make me stand out in a crowd.

My pet peeve is for people who are hostile about change. I mean it i clear by the appearance of the new line that the company saw better sales in the characters which looked more modern. Thus the line got a revamp and is still going to be retooled. I'm not sure they understand that the new cartoon is a more than a retool but a reboot that the company is hoping shall attract a younger generation. This means some of them characters may very well die and never appear outside of a Con exclusive. Yet some of them act like the Company has an obligation to create every toy from the childhood in question. As for Big wow. I'm glad the only thing I have with that is the fact I'm pale lol. I like kids, it is the parents I don't like.

hahha definately this(points above) over on hisstank theres a whole culture of...hasbro haven't made my favourite sparkle-viper yet,and go on and on and on....you would have thought every employee of hasbro had personally burst into these peoples homes on christmas morning,p***ed on them,their presents,their kids,their kids presents,the xmas dinner....and on the way out kicked their puppy to death....




the word is......PERSPECTIVE.....look it up,than apply a little to your hollow toy based existence,before its too late and your lovely girlfriend runs off with the next guy who shows her a tiny bit of attention..

That being said, I consider myself a highly functional nerd and I think Blue hit it dead on about the socially inept bottom-feeders that spoil the waters for the rest of us.

to be a geek or not to be a geek,that is the question that delta asks.i feel its ok to be a geek somewhat but i alway think there is a time to not be one too,i have my geek moments and if you are on one of these site and say you are not then you are a damn liar!! i don't think there's anything wrong with being a little geeky,but when you take it to the extreme,well then all bets are off.lifes too short to not have some fun so let your geek flag fly.

Some of that 2nd paragraph, specifically ' the basement dwelling, pasty skinned, slimey geeks' may be my influence since I was in an altercation with a couple of them at the local comic book store.

I used to go in w/Blue and talk to the owner while he was going thru all the new releases on Wednesdays. Then one day while I was there, there were 2 of the above mentioned actually arguing that they would go out with Wonder Woman and never go out with Catwoman because she is a skank. My issue with this was 1) THEY ARE NOT REAL, THEY ARE COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS! 2) the dorks were talking about it like this was an actual choice that they had to face which since 3) both of them needed to be introduced to the basics of hygene (like showering), I kind of doubt 2 women fighting over them is ever going to happen. So after listening to this for 15 minutes, I stood there and proceeded to shred them until only the bones and a few tendons were left.

Luckily the owner thought that this was tremendously funny and he had gotten bored with these 2 super-dweebs hanging out at his store not buying anything.

I love being a 'geek'. But i am also smart enough to know it's all make beleive, lol. I know people who think Batman is a real guy. Makes me wanna slap them.

I can't stand it when someone uses the 'internet lingo' in real life. WTF, LOL, and such. A girl I work with does that all the time, and has the nere to call me a nerd cuz i like comics!

Go figure.
