So how was my trip?

To be honest it was kinda mediocre.

I met some cool people, saw a lot of awesome costumes, scored some sweet stuff and escaped realtively unscathed.

But.....

I am a huge DC Comics fan. Practically all I read are DC titles. DC did not have a booth. Everyyear a highlight for me an the convention is the DC Nation panel with DC Comics Editor Dan Didio and usually five to eight writers, artists, other DC personnel. No one from DC was there. And the House of Ideas? Nope, no Marvel. No Dark Horse comics, no Image booth, no Aspen Entertainment. NONE of the big comics publishing houses were present. Very disappointing.

And maybe it's cause I am creepin up on 40, but by 2 o'clock I has tired of the crowds and spent almost an hour sitting in the outer hallway just watchin people go by.

Oh there were a lot celbrities present, but with prices like $40 to $60 bucks to say high and get an autograph, my wallet refused to open for that.

I even thought the amount of merchandise and vendors was very light. Everyone seemed to have the same leftovers and wanted pretty big bucks for what they did have.

So when I think about the cost just to get there:

$30 ticket
$28 parking
$20 gas and tolls.

I find myself wondering if it was worth it and if I will even go next year.

Oh screw it, ya know I will! I'll go and complain about the high prices and things that weren't there, but I'll still go. I'm a geek, it's what we do!

So how much actual GI JOE stuff was on hand for buying there? Did someone have a booth or 2 with some ARAH stuff up for grabs? I think the WIZARD con is coming to Austin in NOvember around the time my baby will be born. I hope I can escape for a spell and make my way there to enjoy some of the awesomeness I saw in those pics!!

Your not bad for a roving reporter. Good Job there CLARK!!!

Here is the Website for who is showing up in Austin this year. They got a pretty good lineup too!! I may not spend 100's of dollars for autographs but it's worth a 90 mile trip to see what they have for me there!!

Oh for sure.

For every awesome costume I got a picture of there were three more I just didn't get.

There were a ton of celebrities there to, but most charged a pretty hefty fee for photos and I was on a budget.
