G.I.Joe : Rise of Cobra

I know, I know. There's going to be some haters on this one but I loved it! Yes, I would have liked it better if they stayed truer to the 80's cartoon and comic book and kept more of a familiar Cobra Commander than the one we got but all-in-all, this was a good G.I.Joe live action movie. I saw it twice in the theater and bought the 2 disc WM edition DVD too. Can't wait for the next 2 now!

I agree...there is some things I would have liked to see different but overall I enjoyed it.

I was kinda okay with it til they ditched all the cool vehicles the franshise has been known for in exchange for a NONDESRIPT FREAKIN WHITE VAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I am suprised it took someone this long to review ROC!

There were some parts of the film that I did like, but overall, I was dissapointed .

I ate a bunch of popcorn, drank a huge coke, and enjoyed the heck out of that movie, and I've got a theory as to why it received such bad reviews:

I liked the movie. Once you accepted the fact that it had to be different than the 80s stuff and just watched it like an action flick it was really good.

My only hang-up with the movie was when it tried to take itself a little seriously. I mean, the flashbacks and whatnot were a little off-putting.

Definitely not the Joeverse I grew up with, but not a bad flick. I thought Duke was cast perfectly, he's always been a douche, so yeah, that worked out. Why the shit Monica Belluci was not cast as the Baroness though....

Yes, Monica B would have been a super hott Baroness for sure! She would have been a much more voluptous Baroness than Sienna Miller was, and perhaps even better as far as the acting too. I have never liked Douche....err, I mean Duke so that was fine casting but why cast a ligerie model as Cover Girl only to kill her so quickly? If she's so used to being in skimpy lingerie, why didn't they have Zartan sneek into her quarters while she was getting undressed and kill her then? At least it would have been more interesting and some T & A too.

I thought it was okay when I saw it in theaters. I then bought my oldest son the DVD and watched it with him again. I could barely make it through viewing it a second time.

It didn't bother me that it wasn't like the comics and such but as a movie I don't care for it. Same action sequences I have seen time and again in other action flicks (people dodging bullets/missiles in slow motion) and the comic relief guy saying "my bad" whenever he screws up (again seen it 10 maybe 50 times now). I also thought the Paris Chase scene was way too long and the "climatic battle" at the end did nothing for me. Also some of the actors I could have done without (Tatum. Quaid, Wayans, etc).

If anything I did enjoy the actor who played Destro. He was very sarcastic throughout the movie. Also the actor who played CC didn't do too bad. they should have kept the helmet off though, the deeper more menacing voice was awkward.

I havent watched it since the theater but I went in with an open mind.
as long as you know you are going to see an action movie that has some familiar names and a familiar theme to that of the cartoon and comics we all grew up with then you will enjoy yourself.
If you go in expecting that it will be exactly like the cartoon and the characters will be the same you are in for a rude awakening.
Obviously there were some big downsides to certain parets but on the whole I found it enjoyable and would def. watch it again
