Spider Man getting a Reboot!

Wow.

This could be really good.......or really bad. As much as I hated SM3, I was kinda looking forward to a new one. And with rumoring swirling about a possible cast for the now "not gonna happen" SM4, how is this gonna affect that?

Whoa....really? For f#ck sakes why can't this happen to G.I. Joe, they could retell the story with 100% less suck.

I hear that, man. I guess we need 3 crappy movies, first.

Although I did like SM1 the best.

this is retarded... put your time and efforts into a superhero that people actually care to see... SM is balls

i'm sooooo scared about what they are gonna do to the look, or costume(s)...i'm sure they won't want to copy the OG franchise and they will want their reboot to stand on it's own AND they will want to do the dumb ass hollywood thing and make it "hip, young and fresh, super tight ya'll" for a "new generation" of fans...

some surfer hunky kid (and not the geek he should be) from High school musical will be cast as Peter...

Yeah SM is a huge franchise and 3 movies in it is a big jump backwards to star all over again. But from my pov this series was always lacking something. Whether it is the story, the acting, the concepts the art direction it was definitely lacking, for myself at least.
We aren't talking about a franchise that should not be touched here. there have been way too many movies re-made over the years that shouldnt have been but the fact is that Spiderman has been rebooted numerous times in the past in the comics so logic would dictate that a film reboot was imminent especially after the monstrosity that was the third film.
I think the main thing about this series is that it can be darker and less kidded up and it will still perform well with young fans and older fans. It's time to give it another try and perhaps this time it will strike all the right chords instead of hitting only a few and out of tune I might add.

This is just my opinion on the film franchise.
I think this spells nothing but good things to come for fans of Spiderman. Take it as the next step and instead of crying that Tobey and Raimi are gone be happy to know that the craptacular Spiderman 3 was not the death of the franchise!

to be honest i'm not a big spider-man fan but my son is.if the studio thinks a reboot is needed then all we can hope for is something the fans will enjoy.blay,i think what you wrote on the other forum is correct and you are entitled to your opinion so whoever jumped on you for it should just leave it alone.maybe the reboot will help the franchise,maybe it won't.when they decide to release the new,improved spidey all i really would care about is whether or not my son will want to see it.

Im not a spidey fan at all really.
The only character I have ever really liked from the franchise was Venom. I hope that the reboot explores some different villains and doesnt harp on the spidey/goblin rivalry.
I will hope for the best mainly for the die hard fans.
For me its either I will see it or I wont. But there is a lot of time before I have to make that call.

Honestly, it's good to start fresh. Tobey Maguire was getting a bit stale, and Kirsten Dunst was a terrible Mary Jane. They don't even really need to call it a reboot, jut continue on, and maybe acknowledge the preivous movies.

A reboot did wonders for the Batman franchise, so it's worth a shot. Everyone's opinion is their opinion.

And that is the big thing. Sometimes, change can be good. I've always wanted the Peter Parker character to be played by a YOUNG actor. Tobey Maguire always felt too old (although I don't know his ago, his face seems older).

Also the fact that Spider Man usually spends half of the movie with his mask OFF always irritated me. Why have a secret identity if you run around without a mask in the broad daylight all the time? lol.

The bottom line is I want a good movie. SM3 was NOT a good movie, despite its box office sucess. Making lots of money does not equal good (here's looking at you Twilight fans), but people seem to think so.

I'd like to see a brand new younger cast of more or less unknowns. Just my 2 cents.

Well of course it did!
SM fans all wanted to see the 3rd one and then you have all the kids that wanted to see it.
Box office success does not indicate a successful movie outside of the revenue factor that is.
there have been many movies that failed at the box office that are amazing films and have since become classics!

I say have at it Sony and do what you gotta do.
I am willing to bet the reception for it is even stronger than the first one.

i always liked MJ, but i have a soft spot for Dunst...shes a cutie to me...

my fave parts of all the movies are of her...

when shes pointing at a paper for a photo op for Peter in the first film and her reaction when she first realizes Peter is Spiderman in the second film...

Personally I don't like Spider Man and you can't convince me to do such. I don't have the comics and I wished I woulda saved my money at the movies. I am trying to figure out what is so damn popular about someone who can climb walls and shoot webs. The villians are pretty cool but the superhero stinks in my opinion!

Always liked Spiderman, and I always LOVED the villans, but the movies.....eh

It just kinda killed me that they let MJ know who he was so early on. They didnt take ANY time to build on the relationship and Peter's "secret" before they just dropped the bomb and moved on like it was supposed to be that quick.

Im just praying to god they dont go the 2099 route. That whole story Sucked with a capital S!

Never been a big Spiderman fan myself.I thought parts of the movies were ok but a revamp would be awesome.
