Liked it, but didn't love it. The practical make up effects were as good as they could have possibly been! It was well directed by Joe Johnston and seeing the action shots in this movie make my highly anticipate what he does with the Captain America movie next year! Hugo Weaving is the best actor in the film and you find yourself wanting to see more of him. Anthony Hopkins channels his eccentric old badass that he apparently has on a shelf in his house (see Bram Stoker's Dracula) and he is basically just walking the dog (no pun intended) in this movie.
A solid remake/redo/homage but not the classic that it wwas hoped to be and I can't for the life of me believe that the budget on this movie was $150,000,000!!

it looks interesting. seems to have that old classic movie feel to it the way it was shot.. or so I presume.
Id have to see it for myself to judge though.
Thanks for the review though Swaf!
